The LTC is currently accepting applications for future roles. All applications will be retained and reviewed in order of submission, should a vacancy become available at a later date.
 
Salary: 
As per local 741 ATU Collective Agreement, starting rate of $29.50/hr plus night shift premium of $1.50/hr (full rate after two years $34.47/hr). 
 
Requirements for the General Service position include:
  • G-class Ontario Driver’s license with zero demerit points (mandatory upgrade to C-class license) NEW – the LTC will take care of upgrading you to a C-class license!
  • Air Brake Endorsement (Z) (required prior to start date).
  • One year of hands-on basic mechanical skills, use of power tools, experience working on vehicles, etc. NEW
  • Grade 12 Diploma or the equivalent.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work midnight shifts (11 PM to 7 AM).
What You'll Do:
  • Work as lead hand when assigned, servicing and cleaning of fleet vehicles.
  • Minor repairs to vehicles (examples: lights, mirrors, wipers, etc.).
  • Assist skilled tradespersons as required.
  • Change engine, transmission, differential and cooling system fluids, as well as replenish fluids in the hydraulic system and lubricate fleet vehicles.
  • Remove and replace wheels and rims on fleet vehicles if appropriate training completed.
  • Carry out service calls, bus change-offs, and out of service calls.
  • Wash and clean plant, equipment, and fleet vehicles.
  • Grounds maintenance, scrap and garbage removal, and maintenance of plant equipment as required.
  • Operate (with proper training) forklift, skid steer, bobcat, sweeper/scrubber.
  • Shovel snow and salt sidewalks as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
