We're seeking a dynamic Library Technician to join our client in the Public Sector in North York.
As a Library Technician, you'll play an important role in smooth operations contributing to team success and organizational objectives.
What We Offer:
- Contract Date: Proposed start date is Monday, May 5th, 2025, with an end date of Friday, July 25th, 2025. However, the firm start date will be dependent on the receipt of a signed reliability security clearance.
- Location: Yonge and Wilson - M5M 3H9, on-site work with the possibility of remote work occasionally.
- Work Hours: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, with two 15-minute breaks and one 30-minute break for lunch, 3 days a week
- Pay: $26/hr.- $30.50/hr plus 4% vacation pay depending on experience.
What You’ll Do:
- Performing circulation duties, including check-in and check-out.
- Managing the serials collection including checking in periodicals, claiming and binding.
- Labelling and processing catalogued library material as well as adding copies.
- Performing Stack management, including shelving, preparing signs for library collections.
- Preparing surplus library materials for disposal by creating and circulating lists of surplus library material; sending surplus library material to requesting libraries; boxes remaining surplus library material for disposal.
- Preparing material for digitization.
- Providing general library support including shelving, retrieving, and processing library mail, photocopying, and mailing out library material; and
- Other paraprofessional library duties as assigned by the manager.
What We’re Looking For:
- Mandatory - Successful completion of at least two (2) years of approved post-secondary school training in library science.
- Mandatory Six (6) continuous months’ work experience in shelving library materials within the last three (3) years.
- Mandatory Six (6) continuous months’ work experience in circulating library material using one of the following major integrated library systems: SYMPHONY, HORIZON, Innovative Interfaces, or Ex Libris within the last three (3) years.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word.
